ARCADIA designworks Industrial Design for Modern Windows
Positioned to assist clients such as product manufacturers, ARCADIA designed a metal hardware solution, for Duratherm Windows, a division of Pella Windows. This product added a dependable product to the Duratherm's growing and modern line of wood windows.
The ModCast side latch designed by ARCADIA follows a simple geometry of two parallel rectangles: a mounting plate and finger paddle.
In addition to achieving Duratherm's goal of producing a stronger latch pawl, ARCADIA designers concealed the mounting plate fasteners and created a comfortable finger paddle with a sculpted underside node for the user upon engagement of the latch.
ARCADIA designworks creates architecture and designs products for manufacture. Co-founders, Celeste Bard, a designer/planner, and industrial designer and licensed architect Patric Santerre, have been running ARCADIA for over 11 years.
Celeste is currently focused on research and establishing a Northeast manufacturing scrap material exchange and reuse program. In parallel, she has completed work on two material reuse design projects, one for Allagash Brewery and the other, Planet Dog.
Patric is expanding ARCADIA's industrial design and architecture portfolio with recently completed designs, prototypes and patent drawings for an injection molded hair stylist color mixing bowl. Additionally, he's just finished the design and construction of a new manufacturing R&D training center, and conceptual design for a 5-story apartment building. Patric is also in his 7th year of teaching industrial design at a Maine state college.
ARCADIA designworks Millinocket Pool and Bathhouse is an excellent example of community youth investment for a better future.
Noted in 2008 by AIA judges as a "huge signpost for a small community," the project is a success for the young and old. Truly an oasis and excellent example of small town America's support of modern architecture, the bathhouse displays stunning architecture and spatial design while maintaining a small community environment.

ARCADIA designworks TEELE Hair-Color Mixing Quad Bowl
ARCADIA designworks doesn't believe an architect can only design buildings and a designer can only design products. ARCADIA works successfully in both fields and continues to explore new projects which involve the micro scale of hand held products, and macro scale, large and mass manufactured items, and multi-story buildings.
The Teele Hair Color Mixing Bowl is an example of ARCADIA designworks' industrial design capacity to transform hand sketches and product briefs into an articulate design and 3D printed working prototype.
Upon completion of the design phase, ARCADIA produced drawings for design patents filing, and supplied parametric drawing files for the plastic injection molding manufacturer.
Architecturally, ARCADIA designworks has designed a variety of buildings with a focus on individual and multiple occupancy housing, municipal buildings, and manufacturing.
The Furman Place project, currently in conceptual plan and model phase, depicts a 5-story apartment building containing 60% affordable housing, 30% market value apartments and 10% commercial retail spaces. ARCADIA's client is particularly interested in providing affordable housing and studio space for artists and ground-level retail space for small local businesses.
ARCADIA designworks is a multi-disciplined design consultancy providing architecture, industrial design, and challenge based creative thinking services to corporations, organizations and individuals.
On a daily basis, ARCADIA's team of creative people can be found working on the plans of a multi-million dollar commercial building, or new products for manufacturing and commercial distribution. ARCADIA's broad cumulative experience as planners, licensed architects and industrial designers has only focused their ability to look beyond conventional design solutions to progressive, smarter approaches for designing buildings and products respective of their clients needs and budget. The sustained health of our planet is equally important to ARCADIA's professional approach.
Every project is a combined, creative exploration of teamwork in which our firm Makes Our Imaginations.
